Bellechasse is ground Arabica coffee with added iron. It’s a conventional food, not a supplement. We use a specific form of iron known for its favorable taste properties, protected by a plant-based coating through the brewing process, so it reaches your body where it can be absorbed. Brew it however you like: drip, pour-over, or French press. This is real coffee. Not a coffee alternative, not a mushroom blend, not a substitute. Just Arabica coffee, with iron.
No. Bellechasse is real ground Arabica coffee. Not a mushroom blend, not a substitute, not an adaptogen mix. If you love coffee, this is your coffee. It just happens to contain iron.
Bellechasse uses ferric pyrophosphate, a form of iron known for its favorable organoleptic properties compared to more common forms like ferrous sulfate. This means it is less likely to introduce metallic taste or the stomach discomfort often associated with iron supplements. The iron is then microencapsulated in a plant-based coating, which protects it from interacting with coffee’s polyphenols and tannins during brewing. The result: iron that is protected during the brewing process.
We’ve done significant work to ensure you don’t. The form of iron we use, ferric pyrophosphate, was chosen specifically for its favorable taste profile. The microencapsulation process further shields the iron from direct contact with the coffee during brewing. The goal is coffee that tastes like what it is: Arabica coffee. Nothing more, nothing less.
The iron content per serving is listed on the Nutrition Facts panel on every package. The Nutrition Facts reflect the amount of iron in the dry product as packaged, per serving. The amount of iron that is extracted into your cup during brewing may vary depending on your preparation method, brew time, and water temperature. We formulated Bellechasse to deliver a meaningful contribution to your daily iron intake through normal daily consumption.
